Research
When I was working for a Head Start program, I
served on an Early Childhood board for a local Community College. While serving
on the board, we were given the task to research and see what things child care
providers thought the students who completed student teaching in their programs
needed to learn. Members of the board interviewed child care providers,
students, and teachers as well as conducted surveys. We were able to provide
the head of the Early Childhood Education department with excellent feedback
that was not only helpful for the students, but for the teachers as well. One
thing we found out was that with Head Start being one of the nation’s leading
programs for infants and children, students did not have a lot of knowledge
about the program and the services that it provides.
